Gyros have been around since the first one reportedly flew in 1929 and kick started years of research and development of powered rotary wings that make a helicopter fly.  This led to many hangar and garage designs of auto gyro planes that were poorly designed.  This created a bad reputation for auto gyros that today are high tech and safe to operate.


Carl Potter is the founder of Mid States Gyros and became interested in flying gyros in Oshkosh 2018.  After his new friend Jim told him that he was attending the airshow to experience gyros and possibly purchase one Carl said, "You are nuts!  I'll never get in one of those!"  Less than two years later Carl added Gyro-LSA Pilot to his Aircraft Single Engine Land rating.  In addition, being a Certified Flight Instructor with more that 1,000 hours of dual given he added CFI Gyro-LSA to his resume.  Today he is offering to train new owners of TAG Auto Gyros in their flying machines.

Gyro Ground School

The first activity you should consider is attending Carl Potter's Gyro Ground School.  In this presentation he explains the way a gyro is flown and what the risks are when flying and how the hazards are mitigated.  With this knowledge you can then decide if a gyro is in your future and see about getting a complimentary ride too.

Our Mission is Safety and Fun

The TAG Auto Gyro is imported from Australia and is considered one of the best and safest gyros built.  Flying any aircraft in itself is a risky activity but the TAG Auto Gyro mitigates the hazards through design and with proper handling on the ground and in the air it can be a great way to see from the air what few are able to enjoy.
